The Trim to Subject feature is a powerful tool available in the Auto Resize & Align and Flatlay Magic automations of our application.

This feature allows users to focus specifically on the main subject of an image while cropping out unnecessary areas.

Using Trim to Subject with Transparent Background

Follow these steps to utilize the Trim to Subject feature and achieve a transparent background:

  1. Create new Auto Resize & Align automation.

  2. Goto Background Removal Step:

    • On the background removal step, select Transparent. See the image below:

  3. Goto Resize To Margins Step:

    • Turn OFF "Resize to Margins".

  4. Goto Drop Shadow Step and make sure to keep drop shadows turned OFF.

  5. Goto the Crop Size Step:

    • On the Crop Size step, specify your desired output dimension. For example, if you want images to be in 2000x2000, either click on Add new or select from previously saves sizes.

    • Activate Trim to Subject: Enable the "Trim to Subject" checkbox to focus the cropping specifically on the main subject of the image. See the image below.

    • Optionally, choose to enable or disable the "AI Upscale" feature based on whether you want to upscale smaller images to meet the specified output dimensions.

  6. Review the Settings:

  7. Start Cropping:

    • Waiting the images to be uploaded.

    • Click on the Start Crop button and wait for the output.

Note: Make sure to follow these steps carefully to achieve the desired results. Experiment with different settings to find the perfect configuration for your specific images.

With the Trim to Subject feature, you can enhance the visual impact of your images by focusing on the key elements, making your designs more effective and visually appealing.

How to Add White Padding Around Your Subject?

When working with previously trimmed images and intending to resize them using the "Trim to Subject" operation, it's essential to introduce white padding.

In certain instances, lacking sufficient padding around the subject may pose a challenge for our AI to accurately distinguish between the subject and the background.

Therefore, this step serves as a crucial preprocessing step before using the Trim feature.

Follow these steps to incorporate white padding into your images:

  1. Begin by creating a new "Auto Resize & Align" automation.

  2. Upload your images. (Note: Test the process with a few sample images first).

  3. In the "Choose Background" step, select "Keep Original Background".

  4. In the "Resize to Margins" step, ensure that the "Resize to Margins" option is turned OFF.

  5. Navigate to the "Choose Shadow Settings" step and confirm that the drop shadow option is not selected.

  6. In the "Choose Crop Size" step, either select or add a new output size larger than the original image dimensions (Note: The output image cannot exceed 6000 * 6000 pixels).

  7. Turn OFF the AI upscale option located at the bottom.

  8. Proceed to the "Review Settings" step, ensuring your settings resemble the following. Note: Your output size may differ.

  9. Click on the "Start Crop" button to initiate the image processing.

Review Settings Example:

Note: Clicking the "Skip to the End" button will apply default settings. Avoid skipping to the end if you intend to add white paddings.

By following the above steps, you'll successfully add white padding to your image. Now, download this results and upload them in another "Auto Resize & Align" automation that you are using to perform the Trim to Subject operation.
